Amy Alzina, Ed.D., Superintendent/Principal, Cold Spring School District

Dr. Amy Alzina serves as the Superintendent/Principal of Cold Spring School District, one of the top academically performing and most innovative districts in California. Under her leadership, Cold Spring has become a model for academic excellence, AI integration, and student-centered innovation, consistently ranking among the highest in the state for English Language Arts, Math, and Science achievement.

In addition to her district leadership, Dr. Alzina is the Chair of ACSA’s Artificial Intelligence Task Force, Chair of SSDA’s Legislative and Advocacy Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and Vice-President for the Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA). In these statewide roles, she is a leading voice in developing policy, resources, and best practices that help school systems responsibly and effectively implement artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency, personalize learning, and
empower educators.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Alzina served as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education in the Santa Barbara Unified School District and as Principal of Adams Elementary School, an ESSA Distinguished School recognized as one of the Top 100 Title I Schools in the nation. Her leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to equity, excellence, and future-ready education—anchored in heart, purpose, and community.

Raul Ramirez, Ed.D., Superintendent, Mesa Union School District

Dr. Raul Ramirez serves as the Superintendent of Mesa Union School District. Dr. Ramirez has worked in traditional, larger districts and has had the good fortune of living the daily experiences of a small school district for the past six years. Dr. Ramirez has served in various boards, including serving as President of the Ventura County Schools Business Services Administration (VCSBSA), which is a JPA of small school districts in Ventura County. Dr. Ramirez is also currently on the board of Golden Valley Charter School, Mesa Union School District's authorized charter.
