CS4NorCal: Why Not Here?
In 2024-25, the Federal Education, Innovation & Research (EIR) Department awarded a $4 Million Early-Phase Grant to SSDA to co-design a model to implement K-12 CS pathways with rural CA schools, districts and county offices of education.
Computer science provides the youth of today with the skills and knowledge they will need for tomorrow’s jobs. Yet, rural school districts lack access to computer science education. CS4NorCal, a project serving over 100 school and educational entities in Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta and Siskiyou counties, promotes equitable access for these districts.
Since June 2021, CS4NorCal has provided professional learning resources and built capacity and partnerships in support of new computer science pathways. We’ve learned that by working together, a community of passionate and determined people can do GREAT things on behalf of their students.
