GovernED

SSDA GovernED is a six-part virtual learning experience for school board members in small and rural school districts. Created for both new and experienced trustees, GovernED provides practical, California-focused training in effective governance, ethics, board and superintendent relations, school finance, student outcomes, effective meetings, and community engagement. The program equips school board members with the knowledge and tools to lead with confidence, meet key state training requirements, and strengthen their governance team, all with a focus on student success. Participants who complete all six sessions earn an SSDA Certificate in Effective School Governance.

The GovernED series will run twice each election cycle starting in December. All six sessions are offered so the Board Members can complete required trainings within their first year and returning members can refresh their skills. 

Participants will:

• Strengthen governance and collective decision-making
• Ensure legal compliance and ethical leadership
• Understand school finance and fiscal stewardship
• Build strong board-superintendent partnerships 
• Advocate effectively for students and communities
