Below is a list with the appropriate links to taking advantage of the free resources provided by the California School-Based Health Alliance. Below will also be a link to their website to learn more.
New Resource: Funding Mental Health Care
A new guide from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services outlines options within and outside of Medicaid that schools can take to provide mental health and substance use services for students.
School Health Is Key to Reducing Chronic Absence
Illness is still the No. 1 reason that students miss school. Providing health services at school—through nurses, clinics, or remote providers—can turn around absenteeism. Schools can use the Attendance Playbook from Attendance Works and FutureEd to find evidence-based strategies and interventions for improving attendance.
Free Microfiber Cloths for Schools
The California Department of Public Health’s Work-Related Asthma Prevention Program (WRAPP) is offering safer cleaning guidance and free microfiber cloths to protect the health of school staff and students in California classrooms. Cleaning products, sanitizers, and disinfectants, including disinfectant wipes, can worsen or even cause asthma.
Teachers, schools, and school districts can apply online to receive safer cleaning recommendations and microfiber cloths between now and October 1, 2019. To learn more about how SBHCs can address asthma, visit our website.
