01.23.12: School Funding Flexibility Survey Request
by Shelly Tillery
As some of you may know, for the past two years we’ve conducted a school district finance survey to provide the legislature with information on how districts are building their budgets and responding to recent state budget-related decisions. The survey focuses on various budget-related issues (including the impact of categorical flexibility, payment deferrals, and trigger reductions) and is intended to be completed by each district’s Chief Business Officer or Superintendent. We’ve just released our third-year survey to all district superintendents last week—they have until February 1st to complete the survey.
Given the uncertainties built into this year’s budget, we’re hoping to get an especially high response rate so the Legislature has more solid information from the field to inform their decisions. We’re reaching out to you to ask if you would encourage districts in your networks to take our survey. Here’s the survey link they need to complete the survey:
(Please note that we only need one survey response for each district —from either the Superintendent or CBO.)
Below is the link for last year’s survey report in case you aren’t familiar with the survey and how we use the information.
