06.24.10: Deferral Relief Signed by Governor

Last spring the SSDA Executive Committee directed staff to work on state funding deferral relief for small school districts. The passage of AB 191 provides all school districts with significant deferral relief. SSDA thanks the Legislative Analyst’s Office, Department of Finance, California Department of Education, Budget Committee staff and other education organizations in responding for deferral relief.
Because AB 191 is one-time only relief, SSDA will continue to lobby for ongoing small school district deferral relief through our sponsored SB 1136 (Cox) and deferral relief budget language in the 2010-11 State Budget.
Thank you for your help and support which led to the AB 191 success and please continue that assistance for SB 1136 and state budget language.
