03.15.10: A Cliff Hanger: How America’s Public Schools Continue to Feel the Impact of the Economic Downturn

By David Walrath

Please take the time to complete AASA's survey. The information will help the American Association of School Administrators and our federal affiliate the National Rural Education Coalition. SSDA is opposing the Administration’s attempts to redirect formula funds to competitive grants. Small rural school districts do not fare well in competitive grants. The Administration’s transfer proposals essentially have the same effect as transferring small school district funds to larger school districts with grant writers. Thank you.

A Cliff Hanger: How America’s Public Schools Continue to Feel the Impact of the Economic Downturn is the 7th survey in AASA’s series on the impact of the economic downturn on public schools. This survey includes a section looking at the role of competitive funding in school budgets, which is especially important given the administration’s proposal for a significant policy change increasing the proportion of discretionary education dollars that would move through competitive grant, not formulas. These state level reports would be excellent information for your Congressional delegation.

If you have any questions, please email me. Thank you, in advance, for your time/effort in taking this survey.
