THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR (TPA) AND THE IMPACT OF NEW 403 (b) REGULATIONS

At a recent meeting, I was advised that approximately 70% of school districts had not selected a third party administrator (TPA) to manage the new federally adopted 403 (b) regulations.  These regulations take effect January 1, 2009 but take almost 30 days for districts and TPAs to establish within each district.  In effect, our deadline is December 1, 2008!!!

The Green California Schools Summit & Exposition

The 2007 Green California Schools Summit & Exposition, which took place in Pasadena, California last December, captured the essence and spirit of this rapidly growing trend.

Guided by an advisory board co-chaired by Rosario Marin, California Secretary of State and Consumer Services and David Thorman, State Architect, the event provided three days of networking, learning and planning.

It brought together the widest possible range of attendees, representing all sectors of the education community – from local school districts to state educational regulators – as well as hundreds of innovative companies with green products and services.

2008 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO SSDA DISTRICT GRADUATES

Each year, SSDA awards scholarships to students nominated by members of SSDA districts in attendance at the Conference. In 2008 the following students received a $500 scholarship to attend college. Proceeds for this event are generated through the contribution and efforts of districts and Associate Members participating in the golf tournament each year
