11.05.09: Possible Funding Source for Community Day Schools
Urgent: Possible funding source for community day schools established in 2008-09 or 2009-10
Much of the funding for community day schools (CDSs) for schools years 2008-09, 2009-10 and continuing through 2012-13 is being based on funding school districts and county offices of education received for 2007-08. Obviously, this is a challenge for districts and county offices that were not operating in 2007-08. CDS is one of the the 39 programs referred to in the letter as having been specified in EC Section 42605. If you established your CDS in 2008-09 or 2009-10, or would still like to establish a new CDS, there may be additional funding to support this effort. If you are in this situation, please see the attached letter and consider submitting your application as soon as possible. The signed and completed forms must be received by the CDE by November 13, 2009.
Both the official letter describing State categorical funding pursuant to Education Code Section 42606 for new schools that begin operation in any of fiscal years 2008-09 to 2012-13 and the application form, including directions are attached to this message.
