Districts of Choice Update

Many SSDA district members oppose extending the current Districts of Choice interdistrict transfer authority and many SSDA member districts support extending and expanding such authority. Because there is not a general agreement in the Association, SSDA has taken no position on the issue, but will supply information on the issue.
Senate Bill 129 (Huff) is set for hearing in the Senate Education Committee on March 18, 2009. SB 129 would extend the authority for current districts of choice to operate as such districts and would allow new districts to enter the program.
