SSDA Provides Small School Districts with Services to Help Save Energy Costs.

SSDA is now providing two services designed to help small school districts save money on their energy costs: IBOA training and the ComData MasterCard.
IBOA Energy Efficiency Training
The International Building Operators Association based in Idaho partners with the SSDA to provide certification to small school district facilities managers and operation and maintenance employees. To receive certification as a Level 1 Building Operator, participants must attend five one day classes, complete a project specifically designed for your district, and pass multiple choice tests at the end of each class. Classes include 5 areas: 1) Heating and Cooling System Terminology and Conversion Factors; 2) HVAC Systems; 3) Controls; 4) Lighting; and 5) Energy Management Techniques. A recent report indicates that IBOA participants will save, on average, about 55,000 kilowatt-hours a year for their employer—a significant savings. ComData MasterCard
In partnership with ComData, the SSDA offers a no interest, no annual fees credit card that allows superintendents to establish their own credit limit for employees and manage their accounts online. ComData provides the fleet and purchase credit cards for the top fleets in the country including FedEx, Pepsi and Xerox corporations. The ComData MasterCard is unique because it allows regular purchasing, payroll, and fleet maintenance charges on the same card. Representatives from ComData fleet services also work with district personnel to negotiate discount bulk fuel purchases in your specific area to help reduce fuel purchasing costs.
